Glossary

Seventeen terms, in alphabetical order. Each one is defined from a document this publication already cites, and no term appears here that the site does not itself use; where a term is worked through at length in a piece, the definition ends in a link to that piece.

accession number

The identifier EDGAR gives to one submission, in the form 0000715072-26-000017. It names a filing together with the whole set of documents filed with it, which is why a citation to a filing carries it rather than a page number.

See also What a bank holding company’s 10-K contains.

bank holding company

The company that owns a bank and is not the bank. It files its own reports with the SEC — Renasant Corporation does so under CIK 0000715072 — and under 12 U.S.C. § 1842 it needs the prior approval of the Federal Reserve Board before it acquires another bank.

See also How Renasant Corporation is organized.

branch

What counts as a branch depends on the document doing the counting. The Summary of Deposits reporting instructions state that loan production offices are not considered branches for purposes of that survey, and that some offices in the live register are not in the survey at all.

See also The FDIC Summary of Deposits, explained.

Call Report

The Consolidated Reports of Condition and Income. Every national bank, state member bank, insured state nonmember bank and savings association files one, and the statute requires four reports of condition a year, on dates selected by the heads of the three federal banking agencies.

See also Call Reports: the quarterly form every bank files.

CIK

The number under which a filer’s submissions are indexed at the SEC. Renasant Corporation files under CIK 0000715072, and that number is what returns its submission list.

See also How Renasant Corporation is organized.

FDIC certificate number

The number under which an insured institution is recorded in the FDIC’s registers. Renasant Bank holds certificate 12437, and that number returns its institution record, its structure changes and its list of offices.

See also Call Reports: the quarterly form every bank files.

FFIEC

The identifier carried by each version of the Call Report form. Three versions exist — FFIEC 031, FFIEC 041 and FFIEC 051 — and which one an institution files turns first on whether it has foreign offices and then on a hundred-billion-dollar line, not on size alone.

See also Call Reports: the quarterly form every bank files.

Form 8-K

The form on which a filer reports a single event. It appears once in this record: the release announcing that the merger with The First Bancshares, Inc. had closed, effective April 1, 2025, reached EDGAR as an exhibit to one.

See also The First Bancshares merger, in the documents.

Form 10-K

The annual report. It is divided into four Parts, running from Item 1, Business, to the exhibits at Item 15, and the most recent one from this filer covers the year ended December 31, 2025 and was filed on March 2, 2026 under accession 0000715072-26-000017.

See also What a bank holding company’s 10-K contains.

Form 10-Q

The report that covers a quarter rather than a year. The holding-company asset figure for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 — $27,004,999,000 — is tagged in the filer’s own data as coming from one.

See also The asset thresholds that change the rules.

loan production office

A service level in the FDIC’s office register, defined by the Summary of Deposits reporting instructions as an office that processes loans and does not accept deposits. The same instructions state that loan production offices are not considered branches for purposes of that survey.

See also The FDIC Summary of Deposits, explained.

primary federal regulator

The federal agency that supervises a given bank, held as a field of its own in the FDIC’s register. It is neither the body that insures the deposits nor the one that granted the charter: for Renasant Bank the register returns the Federal Reserve, and it has done so since January 31, 2026.

See also How Renasant Corporation is organized.

RSSD

The number that identifies an institution in the Federal Reserve’s system. It is not the FDIC’s certificate number: one institution carries RSSD 749242 in the one system and certificate 12437 in the other.

See also Call Reports: the quarterly form every bank files.

service level

The code in the FDIC’s office register that says what kind of office a record describes. The register names the levels as well as numbering them — full service brick and mortar, limited service loan production, limited service messenger — and the Summary of Deposits reporting instructions define each one separately.

See also The FDIC Summary of Deposits, explained.

state member bank

A state-chartered bank that is a member of the Federal Reserve System. Under 12 U.S.C. § 1828 the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is the responsible agency where the acquiring, assuming, or resulting bank is to be a State member bank; Renasant Bank’s class changed to state member on January 31, 2026.

See also How a bank merger is approved.

state nonmember bank

A state-chartered insured bank that is not a member of the Federal Reserve System. Under the same section the Corporation is the responsible agency where the resulting bank is to be a State nonmember insured bank. Renasant Bank held such a charter until January 31, 2026.

See also How a bank merger is approved.

Summary of Deposits

The FDIC’s annual survey of deposits by office. Reports are taken as of June 30 of each year and must be submitted no later than the immediately succeeding July 31, and institutions with only a main office are exempt from reporting.
